There are two different roof options that we offer to the trade market and they are glass and polycarbonate. Each of these offer their own benefits making them ideal for different requirements, depending on what the canopy/carport is to be used for.
Glass is completely transparent (even if tinted glass is chosen) and is perfect for sitting outside in the evening, staring at the stars. You will not be able to do this with a polycarbonate roof because it is structured and therefore not transparent at all.
You will also find with glass that if you are dining or socialising outside under your canopy and it starts to rain, the sounds from the rain will be very quiet. However, with polycarbonate the sound will be louder, this may put some people off but others will prefer this as they find the sound of rain soothing.
Glass can often require much more maintenance than polycarbonate; however the glass panels used to cover our Simplicity 6 canopy are UV activated self-cleaning panels that therefore require minimal maintenance!
Polycarbonate is much more cost effective than glass so if your client is on a budget polycarbonate may be the best option. Polycarbonate also offers high UV protection, so if your clients wish to sit under their garden canopy on hot days then polycarbonate would offer the sun protection required.
As you can see, the roof option can only be determined once your clients are aware of what they want from their canopy system. Glass and polycarbonate both have benefits but they suit very different needs.
