Introducing Hybrid Screens: a balanced approach to privacy and light

We have recently introduced a new upgrade option to the Simplicity range: Hybrid Screens. This addition utilises our existing Privacy Screens and fully glazed fixed frames, giving Trade Partners another flexible specification option when a project calls for both screening and natural light.

Hybrid Screens combine solid aluminium privacy boards with a shaped single glazed frame, delivering a clean, contemporary aesthetic that feels intentional rather than compromised. The lower solid section provides effective privacy and wind protection, while the glazed upper section maintains visibility and light, helping outdoor spaces feel open rather than enclosed.

From an application point of view, Hybrid Screens are highly versatile. They can be specified across all Milwood Group systems, including verandas, canopies, glass rooms and carports, with compatibility up to a maximum 6m projection. This makes them particularly useful on side returns and front infill areas where exposure, privacy and visual balance all need to be considered together.

Construction follows familiar Milwood Group principles, keeping specification and installation straightforward for Trade Partners. The aluminium framework is powder coated to our usual standards, while the glazed section now uses 6mm clear toughened glass as standard, offering strength, clarity and improved handling during installation. The solid section is formed using aluminium privacy boards, seamlessly integrated into the frame for a consistent finish.

Hybrid Screens can be manufactured across a wide range of heights and widths, following the same sizing rules as standard fixed panels. Where wider spans are required, panels can be split 50-50 using a coupler to maintain structural performance and a seamless aesthetic. As with our other screen options, each unit is made to suit the project rather than being limited to fixed modules.

The Hybrid Screen can be colour matched to suit the specified system, in line with the standard colour options available for that system. Standard RAL colours include Traffic White (Semi-Gloss), Anthracite Grey (Fine Textured) and Jet Black (Textured), subject to system availability.

This ensures visual consistency across mixed installations while keeping the specification process straightforward. Bespoke RAL colours remain available, subject to an uplift.
